The Curated Room is a Denver-based interior design and renovation management studio specializing in whole-home renovations, kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement transformations, and additions.

We guide projects from the first site visit and initial design concept through construction and final installation. As our project portfolio grows, we are seeking an Architectural Designer who can translate creative interior concepts into accurate architectural plans, detailed construction documents, and realistic three-dimensional presentations.

This position is open to U.S. Citizens and individuals holding a valid U.S. work visa (including TN visa candidates). The Curated Room is willing to support and assist with the TN visa process for qualified candidates.

About the Role

The Architectural Designer will serve as the technical design link between the studio’s interior design vision and the construction process.

Working closely with the Principal Designer, contractors, trades, fabricators, and vendors, this person will document existing conditions, develop architectural layouts, produce coordinated drawing sets, prepare detailed kitchen and millwork drawings, create photorealistic renderings, and help resolve design and construction issues throughout each project.

All architectural drawings and construction documents produced in this role are reviewed, finalized, and issued through the firm’s architectural consultants/department of licensed architects, ensuring proper professional oversight and compliance. As such, this position does not require the Architectural Designer to hold an architectural license.

This position is ideal for a trained architectural professional with approximately two years of experience in architecture, interior architecture, or residential design, who understands both how a space should look and how it must be documented and constructed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct residential site surveys, take accurate field measurements, photograph existing conditions, and prepare as-built drawings.
• Develop space plans and architectural layouts for whole-home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, and new-construction projects.
• Translate approved interior design concepts into accurate and coordinated architectural drawings.
• Prepare construction document sets, including existing-condition plans, demolition plans, proposed floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, lighting and electrical layouts, plumbing layouts, finish plans, interior elevations, sections, and construction details.
• Produce detailed drawings for kitchens, bathrooms, custom cabinetry, built-ins, architectural millwork, fireplace surrounds, wall treatments, and other interior architectural elements.
• Create three-dimensional models and photorealistic renderings that communicate proposed spaces, materials, finishes, lighting, and architectural details to clients and construction teams.
• Research and document architectural materials, interior finishes, plumbing fixtures, lighting, cabinetry, hardware, tile, stone, and related building components.
• Coordinate design drawings and specifications with contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, vendors, and other project consultants.
• Participate in project meetings and site visits to verify dimensions, observe construction progress, review workmanship, and confirm that completed work is consistent with the approved drawings and design intent.
• Identify field conflicts, document existing or changed conditions, update drawings, and assist in developing practical design solutions.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, preliminary cost estimates, project schedules, specifications, finish schedules, and procurement documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate drawing sets, project files, specifications, meeting notes, site photographs, and revision records throughout all phases of a project.

Qualifications

• Professional bachelor’s degree or licenciatura in Architecture.
• Approximately two years of professional experience in architecture, interior architecture, residential remodeling, commercial design, or new construction.
• Demonstrated experience conducting field measurements and preparing accurate as-built drawings.
• Strong experience producing architectural plans, construction documents, interior elevations, sections, cabinetry details, and millwork drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• Experience creating photorealistic architectural renderings using Enscape, Lumion, or comparable visualization software.
• Working knowledge of residential construction methods, architectural detailing, cabinetry, materials, finishes, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and interior building components.
• Ability to interpret field conditions and translate design concepts into clear, practical, and buildable documentation.
• Strong organizational, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage drawing and documentation responsibilities for multiple active projects.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment and travel regularly to project sites throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
